Good Afternoon Harvesters,
Away in a manger, no crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay
“…Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.”- Luke 2:10-11
Sunday we focused in on the phrase, 'the little Lord Jesus.' I believe that often we fail to recognize that Jesus is Lord, He is, He was and shall be forever. That mean that He is the supreme authority, and should be in control of our lives. Yet we continue try to be lord of our own lives. We like to be control of our future and all things associated with the present as well.
God calls for us to surrender to Him and the Lordship of Christ for our lives. Luke 6:46 reminds us, "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,
and do not do what I say?" This is not a partial surrender but a full surrender. I quoted from Craig Grochel's book, 'The Christian Atheist.' He tells us, "...causal Christians or cultural Christians believe in God, but they live as if He doesn't exist." They often justify their actions and I heard this morning that they only read and take what they want from scripture.
Romans 14:7-8 reminds us all, "For we don't live for ourselves or die for ourselves. 8 If we live, it's to honor the Lord. And if we die, it's to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” So again, I ask what have you not fully surrendered to the Lord? God calls for us to be utterly His, not partially but all of us and all of our lives.
Here is the sad part of not being fully surrendered it is found in Matthew 7:21-23, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'” What is keeping you from fully surrendering to Him? Why not give God the best Christmas gift you could give, a fully surrendered heart and life.
Lookin forward to a fun service tomorrow as our kids share with us with bells. Looking forward to seeing you all as enter into Christmas week..
