Sally Edwards is a highly esteemed third grade teacher at Jacksboro Elementary in Texas. She was preparing her students for the equivalent of the Iowa Basic Skills Test and put together an exam to prepare them for it. There were 20 questions and number 11 on the test was this question: "List in any order the four seasons."
Here at Harvest our mission is to help people discover Christ through the seasons of Life. These kids definitely have found seasons that speak directly to them. 67% of her 3rd grade students answered: "Dove season, Deer season, Duck season, and turkey season."
I don't know what season of life you are in, but I do know this. God has something for you to do. He did for Ezekiel. His assignment? To cause bones to shake. Old dried out bones that he saw in the valley to come to life.
Sunday I asked of all of us are we being bone setters, are we equipping those who are dried out with hope, to those who are tired, worn out, and bone dry?
Remember we do this by telling others our story of when we were once dead, but now we are alive in Christ, because He has breathed new life into our lifeless beings. He has equipped us with the power of His Holy Spirit to help others, by speaking the truth of God's love, power, compassion and grace.
Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God created in advance for us to do."
Whatever season of life you are in, God is calling you to make a difference. And He is desiring to equip you to make that difference. Right now, today! Are you available for His purpose? It is time Church to 'shake dem bones'.
This Sunday will be chapter 18 of The Story. Praying that your bones will begin to shake, rattle and roll with hope for those who are dried out and in need of the REAL LIFE!
