Helping people discover Christ through the seasons of life

Choose the Hard Right

Good Morning Harvest Church Family,

Sunday we were asked to "Give careful thought to your ways." Haggai 1:5 NIV or the New King James puts it "Consider you ways." I really like how The Message states this verse, "Take a good, hard look at your life. Think it over." What is still unfinished in your life? What has God showed you, that spoke to you about that you have not completed?

The Israelites put off rebuilding the temple, after having it destroyed and themselves in captivity for 50 years, then when they face just a little opposition they give up and focus only on themselves and not their relationship with God and what it is that He has for them. How often is it that we want the easy way, if life gets hard we try and find the comfortable path to make us feel better.  But often times the comfortable path takes our eyes off of God and His ways.

I have been reminded over and over that God never tells us that following Him and living for Him is going to be roses, unicorns, rainbows and easy living. There are going to be struggles, hurts, disappointments, pain and even suffering.  But as a disciple of Christ we know that all this we face in this life is temporary.

I stated Sunday that God is not again us having nice things and even want us to enjoy life. He just does not want nice things to have us and to get so comfortable that we put our comfort ahead of Him and obedience to Him and His calling for our life. Again, "Take a good, hard look at your life. Think it over." is there something in your life where you know you were supposed to do something and instead of choosing to do the hard right you have chosen to do the easy wrong?

The way to get started is to, quit talking and start doing.  Repent, come to God and ask for forgiveness for putting off what it is He has wanted you to do and move forward. Being obedient with the first few steps so He can then guide you the rest of the way.

Looking forward to continuing to consider our ways on Sunday!

Blessings,
