What at an awesome Easter Sunday! 247 in attendance, 4 Baptisms, 14 Members Received and Someone saying, YES to Jesus! Can it get any better than that?!? I want to thank all those behind the scenes, and in front, who made last Sunday possible. Jason Zehr, Stephen Plopper, Preston Heckel, Amy Zehr, Marlyn and Rachel Heckel, Brian and Joanna Bierema, Jon and Karen Gedstad, Marlene Graves, Craig Youngstrom, Alan Pretre, Jerry Grimes, our singers, Jeff, Elizabeth, Amanda and Erin.
Jesus proclaims in John 14:6 "I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Sunday I shared with you that Jesus is the only way to God. No other religion, no other way, it is in Him and Him alone that we have access to God and a hope for the next life. Everything else falls short. I asked you to carefully consider Jesus by examining His ministry here on Earth. Who did Jesus come for, Mark 2:16-17 we learn that, "...I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Those who are in need of Him. That is each of us. No matter our status or walk in life, we all need in Him.
I also asked you to Consider the Resurrection of Jesus. Why does the resurrection matter? You see, Jesus was miraculously conceived. He was born of a virgin. He did not inherit the sin nature of an earthly father. He was completely without sin. Jesus lived the perfect life for us. On the cross, He became sin for us. He suffered horribly. And gave up His life for us that the penalty of sin could be paid for once and for all. Then He rose just as He said He would from the grave conquering death once and for all. Now this is just a good story it has been accounted for by eyewitness's. Do you really expect any rational person to believe that eleven average uneducated men devised the greatest scheme in history, pulled it off, kept it a secret all at tremendous personal cause to themselves, and cheated the world to become a better place all at the same time? No.
And Finally I asked you to Consider the Eternal Message of Jesus. How are we made right with God? Romans 3:22 tells us and let’s read it together, “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ.” Notice what it doesn’t say? It doesn’t say we’re made right with God by being good enough. And I like this last part, “And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” Don’t miss this, it is true for you, if you believe.
Religion is all about what you do. Relationship tells you Jesus already did it all for you. Consider the eternal Message that you’re not made right with God by your own good works, but by the grace and faith of the Love of Jesus.
Here’s where I stand. If there is a God who claims to be the Son of God, and says He is the only way to the Father, and He predicts his death, and He predicts His resurrection, and He dies, and He rises again, I’m going with that God. I’m going with that guy because that guy came for someone like me, a sinner who is lost and troubled. The heart of God who sends His Son not for the healthy but for the sick, not for the righteous but for the sinners. Because of what He did for me, my only reasonable response is, “Jesus, take my whole life and let it be Yours.” I hope you have Considered Jesus and have said, Yes, to Him.
Looking forward to starting a new series tomorrow and hope to see you in person or via the LIVE Stream.
