How You Doin'?
Good Morning Harvesters,
January was quite the month. From final electoral chaos, Presidential Inauguration, football play-offs to determine who will go to the Super Bowl (GO CHIEFS!!), to financial uncertainty and of course continued COVID-19. And that is just big picture stuff, we also have all of the personal things that each of us deal with. All of this enough to cause anxiety, worry and unsettledness.
So how you doin'? With all the changes we have had this past year and 2021 not starting off the greatest either, how are you doing? I hope Sunday helped you in understanding that Celebrate Recovery isn't just for addiction. It is for every hurt, habit and hang-up. It is for anxiety, worry, anger, anything really that becomes a stumbling block for us that send us down a path where we lose our 'Peace-Filled Living' that we have been looking at through the lens of Philippians 4.
Jason shared with us Sunday morning, about Step 2 - We came to believe that a power great than ourselves could restore us to sanity. "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose." - Philippians 2:13 and in Principle 2 of the Christ-centered 12 Steps. We earnestly believe that God exists, that we matter to Him, and that He has the power to help us recover. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, "Anyone who comes to [God] must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Hebrews 11:6
If we don't grasp these truths that Psalm 62:5 will not help us, "Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my HOPE comes from Him." He is the hope that helped Paul to rejoice in all circumstances. He is the hope that can help each of us deal with our anxiety and worry. He is the hope that restores us to a right relationship with Him and others. So how are you doing? Is God YOUR hope? If not then place your hope and trust in Him and watch what happens. Allow Him to fill your heart, and mind so that you may have His peace that passes all understanding in any circumstance.
