Helping people discover Christ through the seasons of life

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.”- 1 Corinthians 12:12 NLT

Over the last 25 years of full-time ministry I have seen the body of Christ, truly be the church, I would say 75% of the time.  As I have thought about it, I think that's not to bad. I wish I could say I have seen the body of Christ truly be the church 100% but I think that won't happen until we are all glorified in heaven.  Too much of our humanity gets in the way of functioning the way God wants us to in this world. Until all of us truly realize that we are invaluable to God and His purpose for this amazing movement we call Christianity, it just is not going to happen.

Now what encourages me is the 75% of the time that the church has gotten it right has been something amazing to see. Hurting people helped. People searching, finding and then being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Watching unfold before your eyes the unity of the body of Christ to accomplish God's purpose and plan.  Sunday I stated that it is not about your ability, but your availability. It is truly easy to fill all of our time and with good things, but not the best.  If we are not careful the good things become more important that God's purpose and plan. He and the functioning of His body, the church, get shoved down the list and only IF we have some room do those things ever get considered.

My prayer for us as we see things come back to a "normal" pace and rhythm that we do not forget that as imperfect as the church, His people may be, we are still called His bride. We are still to be His body in this world. Don't just get busy with good things, but let's be operating in the best of things that HE has to offer and lead us in.  Remember, the church is the body of Christ and YOU are an invaluable part of it.

Looking forward to continuing this series tomorrow!
