Good Afternoon Harvest Church Family,
We are in week two of our series on Jonah the Prophet on the Run. We have examined over the course of the past two weeks that we often react much the same way Jonah had done.
When God asked Him to do something difficult, instead of being obedient he tried to run as far away from God as possible. God had to send a storm and for him to be thrown overboard and swallowed by a great fish before he came to the end of himself.
From stepping out of his denial and surrender to God's plan, we see that God was answering and working even when he didn't think he was. It caused him to realize that he didn't want to repeat the same thing again and for us to not repeat what he did.
Through all of this he realized he didn't have any power to do anything to save himself. Jonah himself penned in verse 9, "Salvation comes from the LORD."
With all that is going on in our world today we need to keep in mind that we truly don't have anything that can save us except for Jesus. He is the one who makes it possible for us to be saved in all of life.
I pray that as we continue to examine our life, are we allowing Him to be first and foremost in our life. Are we willing to do the hard thing even when it would be easy to run? Are we willing to lay down our pride and allow Him to lead.
Please continue to lift up Haiti and Afghanistan this week in prayer.
