Helping people discover Christ through the seasons of life

Good Morning Harvesters,

Well, the Super Bowl ended up being a Super Dud for those of us who are Chiefs fans.  But Sunday morning was definitely not.  So thankful for God's Spirit meeting with us each and every week.  How He brings all things together from the songs, prayers and message.  All this happens not because of perfect planning but because we (church staff and church body) are seeking after Him, His ways and leading for our lives.

The same can happen, not only in our personal relationship with God but definitely also in our marriage. Sunday we began a series titled 'Beginning Today'.  Beginning today we are going to seek God.  If we haven't been seeking God in our life as a single person, how do we expect to be able to seek God together with a spouse? We saw Sunday that we need to be seeking the one (God) while preparing for and with our two (future spouse and spouse).

The questions becomes how do we do this?  I said Sunday that I could give you at least 20 items but one of the most important is simply by praying for our future two and with our two when we are married.  We seek God together in prayer. We often quote 2 Chronicles 7:14 as a scripture for healing of our country but it is also for us on a personal level. "...if my people, who are called by name, will humble, themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

It takes for us as His people to realize that we are not in control and humble ourselves, to pray, that we are seeking God and His ways, not our ways, that we will be forgiven and the true healing, the true restoration can happen in our hearts, minds and lives.  That includes our personal relationship with Him and for those of us that are married, our lives together with our spouse.

If we truly want to help fail proof our future marriage and our marriage today it takes for us to seek God in prayer together.  Remember, of those couples that seek God together in prayer fewer than 1% ever divorce.  Wow!  That is a change worth making if we are not already praying for our future spouse, as well as for us, that are married, praying for and together.
