Helping people discover Christ through the seasons of life
November 17th 2022
What would happen if you turned all the noise off? The TV, phone, computer, your news feeds, social media and radio, all turned off. You set aside your long list of things to do, step away from expectations other people have for you. Take some time to be alone. To set beside a window in a favorite chair and turn off your relationships except for your relationship with God, alone. Can you get off the train of rush, of busyness and noise? Does this sound inviting

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” - Matthew 5:8 Sunday we were reminded that without Christ, there is no such thing as a pure heart. Jeremiah 17:9-10, "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind." If we want a home that is blessed by God then it starts with our own heart.  So how is your heart?  A

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” - Matthew 5:6 Sunday we examined what it means to be not just a Christian family but to have a Christ-centered home.  And we are using some of the beatitudes to help guide us in having a home that is blessed. We examined what doesn't work and that is legalistic and lukewarm Christianity. Just trying to live by the do's and do n

Sunday, we looked at how gratitude helps to unlock the door to coming into the presence of God in our prayer time. It encourages us to not just come with a list of things for God to hear but to put our focus on how good He is. It is so easy to get stuck on what's going wrong in our lives instead of praising God for who He is and what He has already done for us. And it is just as easy for us to view blessings from God as rights we deserve instead of the gifts th

Sunday we looked at perseverance, of going the distance.  In a world where we have access to so much instantaneous gratification, it is so easy to care about something, but difficult to commit to something--whether it is a TV show, a cause we care about, or even a relationship.  Think about this, when injustice happens, it is easy to post something about your anger or rage and then forget about it by the next day.  When you are feeling abandon

“I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle … And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.” - Ecclesiastes 9:11 Sunday I shared that I like this verse because it reminds me that we don't hav

Abram just couldn't see that God wanted to bless his life beyond what he could imagine. Blessing is God’s default setting—His first and foremost reflex. If you don’t believe that, you’ll doubt the goodness of God. And if you second-guess the goodness of God, you’ll forfeit His blessing.  Because the truth is, God wants to bless you beyond your ability to ask or imagine. What is the blessing of God? It&rsquo

Sunday we were reminded from Genesis 15:1-2 and 5, “Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.” 2 But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son?”...“Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up

I am still in awe of how generous God is with us.  From His love, mercy, blessings, forgiveness, compassion and passion for us, His children.  How can our response not to be that "it is more blessed to give than to receive"?  Because He has given why would we not want to give out even more? Sunday we learned that the Macedonians were so thankful for what God had done that even though they had very little they gave from a generous he

I continue to be amazed at how often I underestimate what God wants to do in and through me.  Too many times we allow fear, small-thinking and living safe keeps us trapped from doing the full will of God.  We want that guarantee of safety and no risk. All i know is that when I try to live safe or just getting by, not taking a risk is when I miss the big things that God wants to do. In Luke we are reminded of the Jesus amazing fai
