Good Afternoon Harvest Church Family,
As I have walked this journey in Christ for over 40 years I have found the blessings of obedience to numerous to count. In the good circumstances of life to the bad ones of my own making, He has always been faithful. I am amazed at how He continues to work all things in my life, again good and bad, to keep me drawn close to Him.
I can really relate to the plight of Israelites. So often, like us, they were stuck in this cycle of close to God, God blesses and they take it for granted. Then they begin to think they can just do life on their own power an their hearts move from closeness to God and being obedient to Him to selfishness and sinfulness. God then has to bring them back to Him by allowing tragedy to take place. Then they often started the cycle over again.
The Book of Haggai shows us once again, that they got into this cycle again. As we have looked through this series we have seen that they have great intentions but always seem to allow life to get in the way of the amazing things God wants to do in and through them.
We saw Sunday that all they went through God was still trying to get the message across that more than anything else, He wants their heart. Yeah, you can get by but to have the full blessing of God, He has to have your heart.
God wants to move all of us from conditional obedience, to the heart relationship, meaning that we serve and obey not because of what we get but because of who He is. Matthew 6:3, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
His Kingdom, His ways, His love with our heart. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and 'Love your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27
Hope to see you this Independence Day to celebrate our Dependence on God!
